Create workable templates in online Demo system

Post by hzujmccescsl »

Create a "static" template with several text fields and simple images (eg; roman numerals on a light background). Create a "dynamic" template + Types + Content + Picture Components (like above). Load these same components every time that the Demo system is reloaded/restarted so if someone modifies one online, the basic templates can be easily re-established.

This will provide a very useful training tool as well as a providing working examples. A preview of either template, unless modified by someone online, should then show the "finished work".

Both templates should be built around the principle of "fixed locations" either using HTML or CSS code. HTML only code would be the easiest to design and understand. In other words, don't build a template that is nothing more than a linear list of modules, one after another. Have something in the top right corner. Have something that is centered within the template canvas. Have a distinct header and a distinct footer.

Since our (the OpenEMM developers') strength is not layout or design we would love to recieve contributions from the OpenEMM community and include them in the default OpenEMM database (or we could provide an additional database with tremplates like the CMS demo database).

Hi Maschoff,

We can create a neutral set of mailings / forms / actions / fields for the community, including dual-language (German/English) double-optin user registration and unsubscription. We could setup the data in the demo system, or send you the necessary files.

A (branded) sample can be seen here: http://www.galaxy-software.de/newsletter

We have also created a flow-chart for the setup process of a DOI user registration (with all the forms, actions and mailings). I use this when I create new registrations. If you want to use it too, then please use the diagram in a reverse order (start with the "last" mailing" and end with the "first form". This is because in order to create an action that calls a mailing, the mailing must exist. The same goes for actions, called by forms.
Link to the flowchart: http://newsletter.user-center.com/techn ... wchart.pdf

Let me know if we can help.

Regards
Markus

Hi Fatalin,

thanks for your offer to contribute to OpenEMM! You could simply create a fresh OpenEMM database from openemm-2013.sql, create the content and save the modified content with

Code: Select all

mysqldump -aCceQx --hex-blob --no-create-info -u root -p -r openemm-2013_content.sql openemm
so that we can upload the file to SourceForge.

Hello Maschoff,

I have realy no clue about mysql/unix. I will setup an OpenEMM in a virtual Windows and try to get the database exportet - or do you have another idea?

Best Regards
Markus

I just checked: mysqldump is available at the Windows command line as well.

Hi Maschoff / Hi All,

I have created a complete set of a bilingual double opt-in user subscription and unsubscription, that can be used as sample/demo for future OpenEMM deliverables and for everyone who would like to use it.

For this I used the VM version of OpenEMM and installed it in VirtualBox. The complete installation is available for download (both, the VDMK as well as the VirtualBox OVA export).
There is also a short "documentation" in the RAR (Zip) file.

Please feel free to download it from:
http://newsletter.user-center.com/temp/ ... ration.rar

Info
The double-opt-in dialogues are - to the best of our knowledge - fully compliant with the current German laws and regulations on newsletter DOI registrations.

License
- Free commercial and / or non-commercial use.
- Everyone can freely modify the provided information at his/her will.
- It would be nice, but is not mandatory, to include our design by dadagoo label in the sample forms.

Please feel free to ask any questions about the process.

Best Regards
Markus

P.S. We have also created a complete flowchart documenting the DOI process. This can be downloaded here:
http://newsletter.user-center.com/techn ... wchart.pdf

One small correction to above post:

There is one minor bug in one form, that needs to be corrected manually. The unsubscribe buttons do not work correctly.

Please replace the SUCCESS code of the FORM reg_cancel with below code:

Code: Select all
