Installation OpenEMM Windows VM

Post by Bernie »

Hi,

I am not sure what to fill in:

Set system.url and birt.drilldownurl to the protocol and FQDN of your OpenEMM server (like https://openemm.example.com)
Set birt.url to the same value as birt.drilldownurl and add ”/birt“ at the end (like https://openemm.example.com/birt)

Maybe someone can assist, thanks so much.

Your OpenEMM has a URL so that you can access the OpenEMM frontend, for example "openemm.myserver.com"

Use this URL instead of "openemm.example.com".

The server can´t be found by the browser. All previous steps has been done.
I put in the browser https://openemm.bernhardknaus.com

This address cannot be resolved. You need to add a proper DNS record / subdomain and let it point to the server's public IP address.

Hi thanks.
I installed it on my computer and not on a server. Doesn´t this work?

If your computer is a server, connected to the Internet with a static IP address, it will work.

It is my laptop, which I use in the office, at home and abroad.

If you intend to only access your VM from within your laptop (no matter what it is running), you could modify your host system's hosts file to fake a DNS entry. Assuming you VM's host name is my.hostname.de and its IP 172.16.0.111, add

my.hostname.de 172.16.0.111

to hosts, which is somewhere inside the windows installation folder (system32\drivers\etc, as far as I remember).

Cheers
