Curious Bounce-Problem with gmx and web.de-addresses

Hi there,

I'm a newbie to OpenEMM, but I like the system very much.

I have a really courious bounce problem with the freemail providers web.de and gmx. The gmx- and web.de-addresses on my mailing-list don't get the newsletter. Addressee with freemail provider adresses (like gmail, ...) recieves the newsletter without problems.

Has anybody an idea what i can do? Has anybody the same problem?

Thanks a lot.

Best,
Andi

do you send the emails from a server with a fqdn ? many or almost every emailserver accepts emails only from servers using a fqdn because most spammers use servers with only an ip and not a domain name.

Hi Phelix,

thanks a lot for your quick response.

No, i think the fqdn is not the problem. There is a fqdn, but i'm using a subdomain. Do you think this may cause problems?

Has anybody an idea where i can see the reason for the bounce?

Best
Andi

In the logfiles of the mailserver?

Unfortunately not, there is no information about the bounces.

In the bounce table of the database there are some entries.

In the field detail are the following codes: 500, 511, 512

In the field dsn the codes: 571, 512, 500.

Don't know what this codes mean? Is there somewhere a decoding?

Best,
Andi

A list of SMTP error codes can be found at:

http://www.maxprog.com/site/support/us/ ... codes.html

and doubtless many other places. There's also RFC 821's big brother:

http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2821.html

which explains how all mailers must operate. This may be more than you wanted to know.
