vmx and phpmyadmin

hi,
i installed the vmx-version of openemm on my (os x)-development-system and i tried to connect to the (guest-) mysql-server
via phpmyadmin from the host by defining $cfg['Servers'][$i]['host'] with temporarily ip:8080 but it doesn't work.
has anybody tried that/ any idea, why it doestn't work/ a solution to make it work ?
