a nood problem for using smtp

i have installed OpenEMM on my Mandriva linux(i'ts my workstation) now i'm using it and whenever i send e-mails the status says that the e-mails were sent but when i check the recipients e-mail, there was nothing. Maybe because I am behind a firewall and we're using a proxy server to access the net or maybe because I should use the company's SMTP server. I can't find a noob-friendly guide on how to use SMTP server instead of sendmail or bypass the firewall. Some said i should try relay..blah..blah. but i can't seem to understand them.

may someone please help me. I'm just a linux noob.

i should really make OpenEMM work on this pc so please help me...thanks.
