I have a similar problem.
If I work with the local MySQL server all is working fine.
But if I change the server on emm.properties and cms.properties to a remote database (Amazon RDS endpoint), the CMS still works fine but I get famous
"Failed to setup database interface"
Changing the hardcoded database values in agn.py to from localhost to remote address (the same Amazon RDS endpoint) hasn't solved the problem.
Any suggestions as to how to go about debugging this problem would be very very helpful as I am clueless for two days!...
