first login to OpenEMM fails

Hi there,
after several hours of work, I managed to get OpenEMM 20.04 running on CentOS 8. Both Frontend and Backend are running. The Java application is listening on Port 8080, which is contacted by Nginx as a reverse proxy (Nginx handling Let's Encrypt TLS (https) and http2).
When I enter https://server.name/ in my webbrowser, the OpenEMM login page loads.
When I try to log in with the "emm-master" account, it fails immediately and I'm told to contact support.
Any ideas how to debug?

PS: emm-master password was set up after setting our own salt for password encryption.
