can I avoir asking my users to use a text / HTML mailing ?

Post by emmanuel.chriqui »

Hi,

As far as I know, a mail can be composed of more than one part. One of the uses is to send multiple versions of your mail, for exemple text and html. the mailier than takes what he is capable of render..
this is useful because I do not have to ask my users to choose between html or text. Adn there is no doubt for me there is no majority for text or html readers (within my users).

OpenEMM forces me to indicate text or html subscriptions...

Is there a way to avoid this and send mails composed of text + html ? How ?

Thx.
Emmanuel.

Take a look at the HTML mails sent by OpenEMM. They already include the text-version and the HTML-version in different MIME parts of the mail (which is exactly what you're asking for).

But actually, not every mail-client will support the mechanism you mentioned. Some may display the Text/HTML-Mails in a weired way.
The text/HTML-mails are based on a MIME-multipart. The text-only mails don't use MIME-multipart at all. So it's a good service to your customers, to offer text-only mails too.
